Home For the Weekend

After my parents went to sleep, I looked to see what they had saved on the Tivo that was good. I wasn’t quite in the mood for a Magnum PI marathon, so I watched an episode of Planet Earth.

The episode I watched was called “Pole to Pole” and was basically very very awesome. Even though I’ve seen it before, it’s still sick to watch the slow motion shots of great whites jumping in the air to catch a seal. The most entertaining thing from the episode was either the polar bear sliding down the snow when she first came out of her den after hibernating or watching the elephants swim and play underwater.

The most interesting part of the episode was the fact that they had footage of a pack of African dogs that hunted as a group. Just seeing them start as one group, then fan out to flank the antelope before the one leader chased part of the herd into the trap that was set.

However the episode was not all fun and games. There was one extremely depressing shot of a baby elephant who was almost blinded by a dust storm. This caused him to loose sight of his mother, all he had was her tracks to follow. Then the camera pulls back and show that he is walking the wrong way. Heading back to the desert, away from his family and away from water.

Hopefully I have enough time to watch a bunch more before I head back to Boston.

The Invisible Man (The Update)

For all those who where waiting patiently for the answer of what happened to my roommate, the answer is here.

He’s alive!

His visibility returned to “normal” the middle of last week. Justin talked to him about it. The reason why we didn’t see him was because he wasn’t there. He wasn’t even on the same continent. He had gone home to Korea to spend some time with his family.

I was hoping that there would be some huge Scooby-Doo mystery behind it, but you can’t win them all.

Presently, I have 4 roommates. Pratik, Justin, Sang and Mike. Pratik, Justin, Mike and I have not seen Sang in a month.

Sang was always a quite kid and kept to himself during the fall. Would always go straight for his room and close the door when coming back from class or where ever. But you would still see him entering, leaving, going to the bathroom, or on occasion getting food. All that has stopped.

The last time I can remember seeing him was before I left for spring break. When I came home from work Sang and one of his friends were working on something at the table. The friend said Hi, Sang did nothing. After I had put down my things, I went and talked to Justin about how this was such a big thing that he was in the suite, but outside of his room for an extended period of time.

Now down to the detective work. There is no foul smell coming from his room, so we can assume that he is not dead in there. His ethernet cable is still hooked up in the living room. His outlet didn’t work so he had to use the living room one and snake it into his room. Since he is a Computer Science major, it can be assumed that he would not move out and forget his ethernet cable.

Updates to follow if there are any breaks in the case.

Better late than never

Lacrosse, The Website

The bad news is I’ve been back from San Diego for two weeks.
The good news is that we ran house while we were there.
San Diego State – 14-6
UC San Diego – 14-6
U of San Diego – 10-9
Arizona – 10-4
Thanks to this trip we moved up from #15 to #9 in the Polls. Also, our goalie was named player of the week. (link)
To check us out as the rest of the season goes go here.

California was amazing. I have know idea why I used to always say, “I don’t know if I could live with never seeing snow again” for all these years. If you are ever in San Diego, go to Mission Beach and find a place called Taco Surf. You will thank me later.

Another thing you might have noticed is I am not hiding my blog anymore. It’s now right up front on the main domain. It’s the way it was meant to be. It also allowed me to spurs up some of the other pages I had before I started the blog. There is some small back-end things that need to be ironed out, but you guys don’t care about that.

The Journey Begins

The Website

The first stage of transferring my website to the new blog layout has been completed. I have moved the lists and set it up so that the list can be sorted like the music page. Go check it out. Re-read all the great lists that have since been forgotten and talked about as legends.

I have decided what I’ll be moving next. There are so many options and they are all equally important.

Site Update

The Website

As stated earlier, I was working on a page that would display the songs I list on all my posts in one convenient place. Today I finished up all the bugs. The songs can be listed by artist name, song name, and what date they were posted on. The more interesting point, for me at least, was that I implemented a paging function that allows the user to move between sections of the list and not force the user to look at one very long list of songs. The list is also cached on the server. This lets the page will load much faster because the database does not need to be accessed every time some one refreshes the page or moves to another spot in the list.

To take a look at my musical tastes, head over to My Music Choices.

The addition of this page also lets you see a feature I added earlier, but did not have enough pages to implement it. The top menu bar ( Home About …) has a built in drop down menu. If you hover over About, you will see a link to my music page. As I add more to the new layout this will be utilized more.

Breakfast

Reasons I Won’t be Getting Anymore Dunkin’ Donuts Maple Cheddar Egg & Sausage Croissants
(When compared to my regular Sausage, Egg & Cheese on a Plain bagel)

  • It is more expensive.
  • Croissants are too crumbly and flaky.
  • The structural integrity of a croissant does not match that of a bagel and makes grasping the sandwich in one hand while driving difficult.
  • Jesus was Jewish, not French.
  • American cheese is better than Cheddar.
  • I barely tasted the “maple syrup”.
  • It’s more expensive.

So Busy

It’s almost time for the lacrosse spring break trip. Which means that they are working us harder than ever. Haven’t posted recently because of that and I’ve been focusing on trying to finish coding a new feature I want to add to my blog (It will let you easily browse through all the music I have listed in past entries). Still a few more kinks, but (hopefully) should be up soon.

I miss my dog.

Sorry for the blurs, stupid camera phone.

Welcome one and all to the true and rightful home of The Saint.

For too long my blog was hosted on Live Journal. But I finally took the time and effort to do it right.

I learned a lot of things about programing and how a dynamic webpage should really be structured by working with and tweaking the WordPress framework. Things are only going to get better from here as I will be adding some more features and eventually converting my entire webpage over to the new format.

All of my old posts from Live Journal and all of your old comments have been backlogged here. Anyone who left a comment on previously already has an account to post comments on the new blog. Contact me by email or AIM to find out your login and password.

I hope you all enjoy the new look.
