My Bankroll, The Ride (22 of 26)

BUT FIRST,
So you can go here to see how well I fared during the black out. That apparently used all the like I had for the day. My external hard disk decided to un-format itself. At the moment my music is still safe on my ipod, though it would be a pain if I had to extract the music from there. All the pictures I had stockpiled in the last 3 years are gone as well as all my schoolwork from the last two years. Looking into data rescue options. I’m apparently in the best situation you could be in if you just had a disk become inaccessible. I can still start my computer since the OS is on the unaffected disk. Also nothing has been written to corrupt the data. Updates to follow.

Now for the fun part. I started playing 100nl (6max) in the beginning of February. I started with a pretty good run. But then , the fact that I don’t know how to play made itself know. The bellow graph is my play since the start of 100nl. WWWEEEEE!!!!
all 100nl 6max

At about 22 thousand hands I noticed I had just hit a milestone in hand count. Then noticed the big red numbers on the screen. (The sick thing is tanks to bonuses and rakeback, I managed to almost be in the black for that stretch.) Based on this I went and stopped by 2+2 and begged for comments (link).

As you might notice, I’m doing well since then. I’m not gonna say all of that is me playing well, but I did pick up a lot from my 20k Checkup. There was a lot of hands that I wasn’t raising nearly enough pre-flop. I wasn’t paying enough attention to when I was continuing on the flop. I was continuing A LOT. All this comes together to mean I get myself in a lot of tough spots with weak holdings. Getting called when I’m behind and not getting called with my strong hands.

I’m a little hesitant to start seriously looking at playing 200nl, but I’m close to the right roll and from what random times I played, I didn’t see a lot of difference.

Here’s to Poker and Playing Well. Note: not to good luck, to playing well.

I’m all for paying attention to the intention and tone behind what is said and not the words employed. However, when one is the president of a major world power and one is at the G8 Conference, one needs to be aware of the fact that there will be microphones.

“…what they need to do is to get Syria, to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit and it’s over.”

Due to the fact that I went to the concert, my name got added to a mailing index for a certain Rock magazine. Today (I began writing the entry the day before Monday, but then decided it would be +ev to complete the Party award.) my family went to Deer Lake, which gave me a lot of free time. I knew I didn’t intend on going in the water, therefore, I needed to keep me occupied. I opted to read the magazine, I brought all three. Each magazine had a very good featured article. They featured Johnny Depp, Pearl Jam and the other contained the Red Hot Chili [plural of Pepper]. I found it captivating when I compared Pearl Jam to the [plural of Pepper]. They are both coming off a break (the Pearl Jam break extended for a longer period) and have recently put out an album. The whole “I’ve lived with the people in the band forever. We needed time to alone before we could come back and hang out together and really enjoy making new material.” You forget how old they really are.
I learned on [the day before Monday] that Eddie Vedder, during their break, made an attempt to write techno. He had an E habit at the time and decided he could try to write material while high. He mentioned that it didn’t turn out to be that good, but he did enjoy the E.

Excuse me, I’m pissing. Can you please shut up until I’m washing my hands.

Finished watching the gay cowboy movie. It wasn’t bad, but was slow to get going. The ending was slow again, but I think it did a good job of putting emphasis on the difficult situation Ennis was left with. I noticed that most of the sex in the movie was somewhat heated and tough, even with the wives. I haven’t decided what that is supposed to mean yet, but it’s a thought. It wouldn’t have been as big if people had stopped being stupid and accepted homosexuality.

The Beach Zone (17 of 26)

Went to Seaside to visit Lilly and stay with her family because they came from Florida to New Jersey to go to the beach. As a result, I got a nice little sunburn on my back. I decided to turn to the power of MS Paint to show something and try and see if we could figure out how this happened.
The following is a picture of my back.
sunburn
The orange section is the sunburn. Everything outside of the sunburn is my pale white irish skin. Everything outside of the blue circle is parts of my back I can touch. Everything outside of the green circle is the parts of my back which I have since successfully lathered with lotion. Can some one explain to me how I managed to miss such a big section of my back, when I can clearly cover most of my back?

Another point of interest is the fact that I met a guy that is that knows two of my best friends, yet neither of these friends have met each other.

All weekend Sci-Fi ran a Twilight Zone marathon (excluding the hour of 10pm last night, that was wrestling). I’ve never really watched any episodes before so it was very interesting. The show does lots of suspense and loves endings. So, with no surprised, I really enjoyed it.
“The Hitch-Hiker” – I was expecting more out of the sailor. When he learned of the man, he seemed like he was uneasy because of the man, turns out it was just the woman that was putting him off.
“The Bewitchin’ Pool” – The voice-overs were really distracting.
“Uncle Simon” – OH MY GOD, PWNED!!!
“To Serve Man” – Unfortunately, only got to see the end. Tasty, imo.
“Number Twelve Looks Just like You” – Very good. People need to learn how to hide better.
I saw a couple others, looking forward to seeing more.

Music

So Evan made an entry first, so most of my concert comments followed that. Nine Inch Nails was amazing and I’m looking forward to the next time I see them.

So, instead of looking at what was, I look towards the future.
The Next Band I am Most Likely to See in Concert
Tool
One of the few great hard rock bands of our generation. The fact that they just released an album gives them a big nudge into the lead as they will be on tour sooner than other bands that I really like. 10,000 Days is very good, and the rest of their collection makes them well worth seeing.

Bands I Would Go See in Concert Given the Chance (No Order)
Queens of the Stone Age – Another band with a very good collection. Rated R is most likely my favorite.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Female lead singers are not very common in rock, but Karen O does a very good job. They got a good deal of recognition when they released Fever to Tell’s ballad, however they don’t get enough recognition for the rest of their work. NOTE: I don’t listen to the radio or watch MTV, so I am basing that last sentence solely on the fact that I know like one other human that has said they really liked Fever To Tell.
The Strokes – The latest album is their third best album, but it has grown on me a lot. (Will, get off your ass and get me Ize of the World.) They just continue to make really strong songs.
Radiohead – Not at the beginning if I had to order this list, but 1) Evan would kill me if I didn’t list them and 2) I like them more and more as time goes on.
Rammstein – The lose some credit for being German and the fact that I would have to deal with a bunch of weird guys from the small continent with a lot of countries. Nothing makes rock sound angrier then when it’s in German.
Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Those guys with the flying bubble thing – They are not exactly touring our making new albums, but if I had a time machine, I would beginning head to some concerts after I made a bet or two.

Incubus and System of a Down are givens as they, along with Nine Inch Nails, are in my Big Three and the only bands I’ve distinctly made an effort to see live.

Do you think any one reads this?

Wendy’s just changed what they call their small/medium/large drinks/fries. The large was changed in a way that it is like a 7-11 drink. They still push the medium as the standard size, which will be fifty cents added. Apparently, since it’s the summer, we need larger quantities.

Things that make me mad:

Watching birds walk.

“The Club” being exclusively used by cars made in the late eighties.

Listening while humanity list things that are insignificant.

Futurama will take the same path as Family Guy. It will be awesome if some TV executive decides to start up shows like Bewitched or Good Times.

Halfway through the alphabet, so why not take this time to have one off post before continuing on.
As a disclaimer, this doesn’t have anything to do with Rounders and only touches on the Suburban aspect. But it was that or I call it Throckmortan, and that would have just been weird.

SuburbanRounders

Evan: Ok, now that we ordered the food let’s get this game started.
Will: Aren’t we gonna wait for Max or Paul?
Patrick: I talked to Paul, he can’t make it. John said he might be late, but would bring people if he showed up. And Max wasn’t online.
Will: Did you call him?
Patrick: I don’t have his number. But you can call him.
Will: … I don’t have his number either.
Evan: Why do I hang out with you guys? Ok, let’s just play a quick freeze out and see if John shows up.

[Ding Dong]

Will: Must be the Chinese. That was fucking fast. But then again it doesn’t take that long to cook cat.
[Will opens door] Will: Umm, did you come to the door and forget to bring the food? Nice play squinty eyes.
Men Nguyen: What? I’m here for the poker tournament. The buy-in is $300, right?
Evan: Well, we were thinking more like $10. Wait, what the hell are you doing at my house?
Men Nguyen: Someone told me that I could get CardPlayer Player of the Year point for playing here.
Patrick: Can you get some other people to come?
Men Nguyen: Are you kidding? Who in their right mind would drive to a random New Jersey suburb for a small buy-in poker tournament.

Will: Raise.
Patrick: This isn’t Limit dumass, you have to say how much you are raising.
Will: Fine, I raise to …
Patrick: I fold.
Will: Ass.

Patrick: Call.
Will: Call.
Evan: Raise to 200.
Men Nguyen: Call.
Patrick: Well, I probably shouldn’t have limped, but what the hell.
[Flop comes 5h 9c Jh] Patrick: Check.
Will: Check.
Evan: Pot.
Men Nguyen: Fold.
Patrick: Fold.
Will: Call.
[Turn comes 7c] Will: Check.
Evan: All in.
Patrick: JOEY!
Will: I don’t know. On the one hand, I’m not getting close to the right odds. But on the other hand sucking out would be +EV. I call.
[Evan shows 9h 8h. Will shows 8d 3s and has 3 outs to a chop.] Patrick: I had a 6.
Will: Awesome!

[River comes 6s] Men Nguyen: Owned.
Evan: Why are you still here?

Patrick: Raise it up to 200.
Will: Fold.
Men Nguyen: Fold.
Evan: Call.
[Flop comes Qh 5d 6s] Evan: 400.
[Patrick thinks.] Patrick: Add a thousand.
Evan: Another thousand.
Patrick: All-in.
[Evan thinks.] Evan: I call. I have King, Queen
[Patrick looks blankly at the cards.] Will: Queen, Jack! Queen, Jack! YES!!
Patrick: I hate you guys. I’m going home.
Will: Can I get a ride home?
